Feather, a Berlin-based insurtech, has officially launched a fully digital car insurance product designed to simplify coverage for expats in Europe. Available in Spain, France, and Germany, the platform allows customers to secure insurance entirely online in under three minutes, with full English-language support.
Partnering with major insurers Allianz, Helvetia, and VHV, Feather provides an end-to-end digital experience, from sign-up to policy management, complete with immediate proof of insurance.
“Buying car insurance has traditionally been painful for expats,” said Rob Schumacher, CEO and co-founder of Feather. “Our platform removes that friction and delivers clarity, speed, and transparency.”
This launch expands Feather’s digital-first insurance portfolio, which already includes health, liability, and business insurance products. With the European motor insurance market projected to reach €175.7 billion in 2025, digital adoption is accelerating rapidly.
Feather’s expat-focused approach addresses language barriers and local regulatory complexities, offering a seamless experience for a traditionally underserved group. The company previously raised $6 million in 2024 to support continental expansion and appointed leaders to oversee operations in France and Spain.
With the addition of car insurance, Feather continues to advance its mission of making insurance simple, fast, and human-centered, catering to the growing demand for digital-first solutions across Europe.
