Hyundai Marine & Marine Insurance Co., Ltd. announced on September 15, 2025, a new special insurance contract covering flight delays. The policy pays a flat rate between 40,000 and 100,000 won, depending on the delay time, for international flights departing from Korea delayed or canceled for more than two hours.
Unlike previous plans, which required submitting receipts for food, drinks, or airport services, this new index-type contract allows customers to claim insurance using only their e-ticket.
Customers can register their flights with Hyundai Marine and receive notifications about delays and insurance claims directly via text messages.
The insurance also covers other travel risks. Hyundai Marine Direct Overseas Travel Insurance reimburses medical expenses, lost or damaged carry-on items, and passport re-issuance costs during trips abroad.
The plan is on average 59% cheaper than offline options, with flexible premium choices. Customers who sign up with family or friends can receive an additional 10% discount, and up to 20 people can register under the same plan.
For emergencies overseas, the insurance provides a 24/7 Korean-language support service, available all year, for medical issues or travel assistance.
