Zurich Malaysia has taken a significant step towards supporting electric vehicle (EV) adoption by launching Z-Driver EV Protect, a new insurance and takaful add-on tailored for EV owners. For an annual premium of $28.5 (RM120), the policy offers extensive protection for crucial components such as EV batteries, home wall chargers, portable charging accessories, and liability coverage while charging. This initiative aims to address the unique risks faced by EV users and promote safer, more confident use of electric vehicles across the country.
The insurance package provides a range of benefits designed to meet the practical needs of EV owners. Customers can claim up to $3,565 (RM15,000) for damages or loss of their home wall chargers, up to $11,883 (RM50,000) for liability incidents that occur during charging, and up to $475 (RM2,000) for cable-related issues.
In addition, the plan includes allowances of up to $4,753 (RM20,000) for incidents that happen at public charging stations. For those seeking additional protection, Zurich offers an optional enhanced perils cover.
Strategic Partnership with Gentari Green Mobility Expands Charging Network Visibility
In a move to further facilitate EV adoption in Malaysia, Zurich has partnered with Gentari Green Mobility. This collaboration aims to increase the visibility of reliable EV charging infrastructure nationwide. Through this partnership, Zurich’s brand presence has been extended to 13 high-traffic charging stations located at prominent venues such as Suria KLCC, KLIA2 airport, and The Gardens Mall.
By supporting the development and accessibility of dependable charging facilities, Zurich and Gentari Green Mobility seek to make owning and operating an electric vehicle more convenient for Malaysians. Their joint effort is expected to help reduce barriers to EV ownership and encourage more drivers to consider switching to electric vehicles.
