United States Air Force Academy wins Texas Tech School of Law Regional; Baylor takes Top Speaker

On November 18th and 19th, the Texas Undergraduate Moot Court Association hosted two regional tournaments: one at the Texas A&M School of Law and one at the Texas Tech School of Law. Each regional gave competitors in the TUMCA region the chance to qualify for the AMCA National Moot Court Tournament for undergraduates.

The Texas Tech School of Law Tournament is also known as the South Central Regional. This year, 68 competitors traveled to Lubbock from 11 schools: Baylor University, United States Air Force Academy, University of Tampa, Arkansas State University, Texas Christian University, University of North Texas, Howard Payne University, Texas A&M University, Hardin-Simmons University, Stephen F. Austin University, and Southwestern University,

Sixteen teams advanced to out rounds on the second day of the tournament. After three

rounds, Dana Call and Andrew Resweber from the United States Air Force Academy along with Julie Nelson and Rebekah Mercer from Baylor University remained for the Final Round. Dana Call and Andrew Resweber argued for the Respondent, while Julie Nelson and Rebekah Mercer opened the round with their Petitioner argument. In a close 2-1 round, Dana Call and Andrew Resweber became the new South Central Regional Champions.

In addition to the tournament champions and finalists, the top 15 orators from the first day of the tournament were also given awards. Greg Abel from Baylor University took the coveted title of #1 Top Speaker. Listed below are all of the top orators:

12. Kristen DeWilde from the University of North Texas

13. Jakob Morgan from Howard Payne University

14. Ryan Holte from the United States Air Force Academy

15. Annika Edgington from the United States Air Force Academy
