After weeks of negotiations, Star Health and Allied Insurance and the Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) have announced the resumption of cashless services at AHPI member hospitals starting October 10, 2025. This follows a dispute over pricing and other concerns that led AHPI to advise its members to suspend cashless facilities from September 22.
In a joint statement, both organizations confirmed that while cashless services will be restored, they are committed to addressing all remaining issues—including tariff revisions—by October 31, 2025.
AHPI’s Role in the Resolution
This resolution marks a significant step forward after AHPI’s initial advisory, which disrupted cashless payment services for patients. The association has now revoked the advisory and is focused on finalizing any remaining matters. To prevent similar disputes in the future, AHPI plans to create a panel of industry leaders who will work alongside insurers to establish an industry-level agreement that prioritizes the interests of patients.
Dr. Girdhar Gyani, Director General of AHPI, shared, “We are pleased that our dialogue with Star Health Insurance has resulted in this positive outcome. The restoration of cashless services will ease the burden on patients and their families, who deserve uninterrupted access to care.”
Star Health’s Commitment to Policyholders
Anand Roy, MD & CEO of Star Health Insurance, reiterated the company’s commitment to its policyholders: “At Star Health Insurance, our foremost priority is the well-being of our policyholders. We are glad to have resolved the issues through constructive engagement with AHPI. Restoring cashless services at member hospitals reflects our commitment to ensuring accessible, affordable, and seamless healthcare for our customers.”
With this development, the ongoing issue appears to be heading toward a resolution that will benefit both healthcare providers and patients, ensuring smoother access to care under Star Health Insurance policies.
