As travelers plan Labor Day trips and look forward to the 2025-26 ski season, Sensible Weather—the climate tech company behind over one million Weather Guarantees sold across more than 8,000 partners—has launched its latest offering: the “High Winds Weather Guarantee.”
This first-of-its-kind service provides automatic reimbursements when sustained winds disrupt outdoor activities. From ski lifts shut by gusts to golf courses made unplayable, travelers receive instant payouts with no claims or paperwork.
The new guarantee complements Sensible Weather’s existing coverage for rain, heat, snow, and sleet, and can be bundled with other protections to give outdoor enthusiasts peace of mind regardless of the forecast.
Using trusted windspeed data, the system calculates the strongest average wind speed over a one-hour period. If the threshold is met or exceeded during covered dates, the guarantee triggers automatically, and reimbursement is issued instantly. The launch aligns with NOAA reports of above-average sustained winds across much of the U.S. in 2025, highlighting increasingly volatile conditions for outdoor recreation.
The High Winds Weather Guarantee is already being piloted at golf resorts and ski destinations, where wind closures often frustrate both travelers and operators. By eliminating financial risk from wind-related disruptions, Sensible Weather helps travelers protect their trips while enabling operators to maintain bookings, increase conversions, and boost revenue.
