The FIA, the global governing body for motorsport, has established a new task force to address the rising costs of motorsport insurance and its impact on the industry. The initiative, led by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, aims to provide clarity on global insurance policies and offer solutions for the growing challenges faced by the motorsport community.
The motorsport sector has been grappling with increasing insurance premiums, limited coverage, and reduced access to policies—issues that threaten the sustainability and growth of the sport worldwide.
Co-led by FIA Secretaries General Valerio Iachizzi and Willem Groenewald, the task force will work closely with FIA Member Clubs, insurance specialists, and risk management experts. The committee is tasked with reviewing the situation and providing practical solutions for members, the FIA said in a statement.
The group’s goal is to deliver clear guidance, educational resources, and global understanding, while fostering cross-governmental engagement to support FIA Member Clubs as they navigate the evolving insurance landscape.
“Our Members are at the heart of everything we do at the FIA, delivering exceptional work worldwide in both sport and mobility. As their federation, it is our duty to provide clarity, guidance, and representation on issues that will shape the future of motorsport,” said Ben Sulayem.
“The FIA is committed to ensuring that motorsport and mobility remain safe, sustainable, affordable, and accessible, while also driving global growth. Rising insurance costs risk limiting opportunities and accessibility across the sport, and to address this, we must collaborate closely with our clubs, insurers, and local authorities to find solutions that preserve the integrity and sustainability of motorsport for all.”
