According to recent reports, offbeat destinations now account for roughly 11% of total travel volume compared to mainstream locations. While iconic cities like Paris, London, and New York remain popular, a growing segment of Indian travellers is opting for secluded, unconventional spots. Seychelles, in particular, has seen a remarkable 115% year-on-year growth in 2025, reflecting the rising appeal of island escapes with unspoiled natural beauty and exclusivity. Interestingly, trip durations differ significantly: travellers to offbeat destinations typically stay around 18 days, compared with an average of 51 days for mainstream locations. This suggests that visitors to lesser-known spots seek immersive, yet concise, experiences, prioritizing depth over length.
Peak travel to offbeat destinations remains concentrated between October and March, aligning with India’s winter season. During these months, travellers often seek milder climates and opportunities to avoid crowded tourist hubs.
